Description of Project

The Laar Humanitarian and Development Program (LHDP) and Management & Development Foundation (MDF), under the USAID Small Grants and Ambassadors’ Fund Program (SGAFP), aims to ensure water availability at the tail end of Faiz Gunj Canal, its sub canal and minors by introducing Participatory Irrigation Management System. LHDP & MDF seeks to do this by assessing the existing status of allocation of water resources by the Irrigation Department and updating record of users on each watercourse. This will be followed by mobilizing the watercourse users and forming 313 Watercourse Associations, 09 Farmer Organizations and 01 Federation of Farmer Organizations. Once established these bodies will undergo a comprehensive capacity building exercise and an attempt will be made to establish their linkages with relevant government department.

Scope of the Services

Project will be implemented in Tehsil Faiz Gunj of District Khairpur;
Ensuring required documentary evidences/means of verifications for various project deliverables;
Formation of Project Recruitment Committee, Project Procurement Committee and Project Implementation Committee
Development of IEC Material for the Project
Formation of 313 Watercourse Associations (WCAs) on each Watercourse of Faiz Gunj Canal, Veeho Sub Canal and its Minors
Formation of the 9 Farmer Organizations on the Faiz Gunj Canal and Minors on Canals
Formation of the Federation of Farmer Organization(FFO) on the Faiz Gunj Canal
Registration of Farmer Organizations on Faiz Gunj Canal and Minors
Development of Training Manuals and Training to the FOs members
Establishing Effective Linkages of FOs members with Government Line Departments
Organizing a Project Closing Seminar to Inform about the Project Intervention
