Description of Project
IOM is targeting 22,000 beneficiary households for one room shelter construction in Sindh, specifically in Mirpur Khas, Umerkot, Badin, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tharparkar and Tando Allah Yar Districts where houses have been partially or completely destroyed. The construction process is being supported through generous donor funding from United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID) and The Office of U.S foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA) and the Organization for Social Development Initiatives (OSDI).
In this regard MDF has been give the project by IOM in Badin District to carry out assessment in order to identify the villages where the percentage of destroyed houses is above 20% of the total, and therefore their social coping mechanisms are stretched to the limit.
Scope of the Services
Comprehensive assessment of the completely destroyed shelters of the vulnerable households
Identification of beneficiaries
Mobilization and motivation of the community for construction of the rooms
Provision of technical assistance for construction of shelter
Services Provided
Impart training to the staff
Mobilize 500 households to rehabilitate their houses
Provide shelter to 500 beneficiary families
Select 25 focal points from the communities
Make 25 village committees
Provide 100 sessions to those committee members on construction of the shelters
Monitoring and Coordination
